The 抖M女仆 Women鈥檚 Center will host the eighth annual Mothers, Mentors and Muses Scholarship Fundraiser Reception. The event will take place at the Kent Student Center Ballroom on March 14 from 5-7:30 p.m. The guest speaker for this year鈥檚 event is Connie Schultz, 抖M女仆 faculty and Pulitzer Prize winner.
The event honors women as either a mother 鈥 someone who has helped 鈥渂irth鈥 new ideas and thoughts in others and also has served as an overall nurturing individual; a mentor 鈥 an individual who has been both a role model and a trusted counselor to others; or a muse 鈥 an individual who has inspired both creativity and academic enthusiasm in others. Over the past seven years, approximately 375 women have been honored in these respective roles.
The Women鈥檚 Center, which was established in 1996, supports women in their academic careers. Funds raised at the event will fund $500 scholarship awards for two 抖M女仆 female or female-identifying students. This scholarship has benefited 25 students since its introduction in 2003.
