The city and campus are smaller than what you might be used to in Kent, Ohio, and this gives you a chance to experience a more intimate university setting where you can easily get to know most of your fellow students, as well as faculty and staff.

Focusing on personal interaction and small class sizes, Webster Leiden teaches a variety of courses in multiple disciplines including International Relations, Business, and Psychology.

As a 抖M女仆 student, you can study abroad in the Netherlands for a full semester or participate in a 4-8 week summer program.

Transferring Credits

Transfer Credits

With this program, students enroll in courses at a partner (host) institution. You will need to transfer the credits you earn abroad back to 抖M女仆.

Upon successful completion of the program, the host institution will issue you an official transcript, which will be needed for the credit transfer process.

You must earn passing grades on the courses you take abroad for the credits to transfer.

Prior to departure, students will meet with their academic advisor to complete a Transfer Course Planning (TCP) Form, which will outline the courses you plan to take while abroad and how the courses will transfer to 抖M女仆.

Some courses have already been pre-approved for transfer to 抖M女仆 and can be viewed on the Transfer Credit Guide. Please note that this is only a guide and is NOT a comprehensive list of courses available at each partner institution.

Credit Approval

Prior to departure, it is your responsibility to meet with your academic advisor to discuss the courses you plan to take while abroad.

If a course needs to be evaluated for transfer, you are responsible for working with your education abroad advisor to obtain the syllabus and have it reviewed by 抖M女仆 faculty.

Location

Leiden, Netherlands

Known as a student-friendly city with a laid-back atmosphere, Leiden is one of The Netherland鈥檚 best-kept secrets. It鈥檚 been a center of historical and commercial importance since the 16th century when locals and international explorers developed new ideas and philosophies. Today, you can marvel at beautiful buildings with facades unchanged for centuries and lofty windmills whose sails still evoke both charm and a sense of functionality.

Restaurants and caf茅s are nestled between quaint, cobblestone streets and picturesque canals - all within easy walking distance. But if you want to embrace a true Dutch lifestyle, then cycling is the way to go!

The birthplace of the renowned painter Rembrandt, Leiden has one foot rooted in the past and the other in the future. From museums and cultural institutions to Leiden's Science Park, you鈥檒l uncover many secrets in this small city that effortlessly combines its rich historical legacy with a progressive approach to the future.

Airports and Local Transportation

Leiden is ideally located within a short traveling distance of major cities such as The Hague and Amsterdam. The city is easily accessible, with Schiphol International Airport just 20 minutes away by train, and Rotterdam-The Hague airport a straightforward 25-minute journey.

From Leiden, it is possible to travel either by train or car to any destination in the Netherlands or deeper into Europe.

Within the city, you can cycle anywhere you need to go, hop on board a bus, or even rent a canal boat to live like a local.

Housing

Study abroad students live off campus just across the street from Webster Leiden's main building in the heart of the old city center.

Built in 1929, the building was initially used as a vocational school for young women and most recently housed a language school. In keeping with this educational tradition, it is now home to Webster Leiden's Living and Learning Center (LLC).

Single and double occupancy rooms are available in the LLC. Each student will have their own bed (with linens), desk, nightstand, lamp and closet. Each room is furnished with a kitchenette and private bathroom. Students have access to on-site laundry facilities, bike storage, cable internet, a student lounge and a beautiful courtyard. The student lounge features a snack vending machine, microwaves, a refrigerator, a television and complimentary wifi.

The level of security at the LLC offers peace of mind to students and parents. Students will have an electronic key to access the building and their room. The LLC offers on-site resident assistants and the Housing Office is located inside the main entrance.

Visa Information

A visa is a document required by many countries, in addition to your passport, that allows you to enter the country for a certain purpose (whether that鈥檚 to stay, transit, or exit). Essentially, it is the country's government giving you legal permission to enter their country to travel, study, work, etc.

Please note, it is solely the responsibility of the student to:

  • determine the entry, transit, and stay requirements for the country or countries to which they will travel,
  • and to apply for any necessary visas, stay permits, or any other immigration requirements of the host nation(s).

It is also the responsibility of the student to:

  • verify the correct documentation required to apply for the required visa(s),
  • apply for the visa(s) early enough to ensure there is enough processing time,
  • and pay any fees associated with obtaining the visa(s).

抖M女仆's Office of Global Education is available to provide general guidance regarding student visa requirements and procedures; however, each student who travels abroad is expected to manage their own legal obligations regarding international travel.

It is strongly recommended by the Office of Global Education that you carefully review the appropriate consulate or embassy website for the nation(s) you plan to visit in order to determine current entry/study/exit visa requirements.
