Alumna Emilie Oxel O鈥橪eary, '93, is the CEO of Sunshine Solar, a woman-owned mechanical installation company that partners with major brands such as L鈥橭real and Amazon by installing solar power to support their overarching goals of being sustainable companies. 鈥淚鈥檝e always had an entrepreneurial spirit,鈥 O鈥橪eary said. 鈥淏ut I knew I needed a good education. 抖M女仆 will host the kickoff event for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read Northeast Ohio, a community reading program celebrating 鈥淎n American Sunrise鈥 by Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, the first Native American poet laureate of the United States. The kickoff event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 12, beginning promptly at 7 p.m. in the Kiva, located in the Student Center, 800 E. Summit Street, Kent, Ohio. Bra Recycling

抖M女仆鈥檚 Office of Sustainability, the Women鈥檚 Center, and Employee Wellness and Health Promotion, is hosting a bra recycling drive October 5 through 29, to collect reusable or worn-out bras and reduce the number of textiles in landfills. Bras that are in good condition will be donated to the Phyllis Zumkehr County Clothing Center. Worn-out bras will be recycled. The School of Multidisciplinary Social Sciences & Humanities will provide an academic home for innovative approaches to complex questions.
