For more than four decades, Mary Frances Berry, Ph.D., has been one of the most visible and respected activists in the cause of civil rights, gender equality and social justice. Dr. Kohji Hirata, Director of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Washington Office (http://jspsusa.org/wp/), and Mr. Masahiro Ueda, International Program Associate, visited 抖M女仆 for two days in November.  JSPS is Japan鈥檚 main funding agency for the sciences and humanities.  They arrived first to the Anthropology Department, where they toured our neuroscience, osteology, genetics, and experimental archaeology laboratories.   Dr. Hirata and Mr. Ueda then gave presentations to an audience of nearly 150 members of the 抖M女仆 community.  They discu...

  Dr. Katsuki Nakamura of the Primate Research Institute (PRI), Kyoto University, visited the Anthropology Department in early November.  Dr. Nakamura was the first researcher at the PRI to host one of our graduate students.  In summer 2015, he kindly welcomed Emily Munger into his lab to conduct a study on visual discrimination and reversal learning in aged marmosets.  Under his guidance the project resulted in a publication in the journal Neuroscience Research.  This study also marked the first collaboration between Dr. Nakamura鈥檚 lab and that of Emily鈥檚 advisor at ...
