Community Impact
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted recently issued a joint proclamation recognizing the impact that employee-owned companies have on Ohio鈥檚 economy as well as the work of the Ohio Employee Ownership Center (OEOC) based at 抖M女仆, which requested the proclamation. The OEOC has served as a nonprofit outreach center providing support, resources and assistance to businesses since 1987.
EHHS alumnus Erica Maxwell and her teenage daughter, Jessica Alexander, visited the Child Development Center to read from their newly published book, 鈥淏eauty With a Birthmark.鈥
It鈥檚 time to wear blue and gold as the 抖M女仆 Golden Flashes family reunites for Homecoming 2022. 抖M女仆 will celebrate Homecoming with activities and events leading up to the Oct. 1 Homecoming Parade and Homecoming football game.
It may surprise you to learn that 鈥淐aptain Underpants,鈥 鈥淔rankenstein,鈥 鈥淭he Great Gatsby,鈥 鈥淗unger Games鈥 and 鈥淭he Perks of Being a Wallflower鈥 are all popular books that have been banned, along with many others. In honor of Banned Books Week, the Second Annual Banned Books Read-In was held in Taylor Hall.
Members of the 抖M女仆 community can take great pride in their university鈥檚 hometown. The city of Kent has been selected by Ohio Magazine as a 2022-2023 Best Hometown. The Best Hometown honor recognizes Kent as a great place to live, work and visit.
Nearly 40 people from the 抖M女仆 community enjoyed a tour of the flowers and trees of Front Campus during part two of the 鈥淲alk & Talk: Flowers and Foliage鈥 event, thanks to the Employee Wellness and Health Promotion program and the grounds crew.
Every Friday, the 抖M女仆 community can come together to create poetry and share a more vulnerable side of themselves at the Wick Poetry Center. The Wick Weekly poetry writing workshop brings students together to help develop them as poets and create a community of creatives.
Alumni brewers at Sibling Revelry Brewing have created 抖M女仆 Golden Lager - the official craft beer of 抖M女仆 Athletics.
