Fall Fest 2023 horse-drawn carriage rides

Students lined up to get a free beanie and take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage at Flash Activities Board鈥檚 Fall Fest on Wednesday, Oct. 11. With hot apple cider and donuts in hand, students either played cornhole or sat on hay while listening to the live calypso music.

You get a text asking you to verify that you鈥檙e logging into your Flashline account. But you鈥檙e not. Now you鈥檙e wondering how many times you鈥檝e used this same password. October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and 抖M女仆 is looking to keep you safe online.

In Noelle Bowles鈥 classroom, fairytales come to life through the eyes of her students. Bowles, associate professor of English at 抖M女仆 at Trumbull, teaches lessons that extend past the storybook and onto the pages of real life.

Changes have now been made to Rave, 抖M女仆鈥檚 Emergency Communication System, which is used to send Flash ALERTS as text messages when important information needs to be distributed in a timely fashion, such as during a safety crisis or weather emergency.

抖M女仆's Student Accessibility Services is celebrating October as Disability Awareness Month, with events and activities to spread the word to students that they are not alone in their struggle and that help is available.

Juliana Buonaiuto, Undergraduate Student Government president, stated in her convocation speech this year that she got a lightning bolt tattoo during the first two weeks of her first year. A recent Pew Research Center survey revealed that 32% of Americans have a tattoo. 抖M女仆 Today went to some local authorities to see if those trends match the 抖M女仆 community.

October is 抖M女仆鈥檚 Mental Health Awareness Month. Though the national health observance is in May, the university chooses October to promote mental health awareness as the need for mental health support on campus peaks during this time.

鈥淚f Monday was a color, she鈥檇 be red...鈥  The third annual Read-In @ 抖M女仆 was held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, in Taylor Hall. This open-mic event gave students, faculty, staff and alumni the opportunity to read excerpts from or speak briefly about banned and challenged books that are important to them.
