Spring 2018 Bowman Breakfast Celebrates 55 Years of Town-Gown Collaboration in Kent

For 55 years, leaders from ¶¶MÅ®ÆÍ and the city of Kent have met over breakfast to foster successful collaboration between the university and the city.

The semi-annual Bowman Breakfast, which began in 1963, brings together leaders from ¶¶MÅ®ÆÍ and the city of Kent in a forum designed to advance community issues and strengthen the town-gown relationship.

The topic for this year’s spring Bowman Breakfast is “Town-Gown Relations – Working Together Makes It Work!â€

The event will take place Wednesday, April 4, in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. Doors open at 7 a.m., breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. and the program follows from 8-9 a.m.

Featured speakers from the city are David Ruller, city manager; Jim Bowling, P.E., superintendent of engineering and deputy service director; and Mike Lewis, Kent Police lieutenant. Representing the university are Mark Polatajko, Ph.D., senior vice president for finance and administration; Tom Euclide, P.E., associate vice president for facilities planning and operations; and Dean Tondiglia, ¶¶MÅ®ÆÍ Police chief and director of public safety. Todd Kamenash, ¶¶MÅ®ÆÍ’s assistant dean of students and director of student conduct, will moderate the discussion.
