You could tell Michelle Van Dyke was choking up as she mentioned there were many times when she had to choose whether to buy gas or food on any given day. The financially struggling 53-year-old single mom and 抖M女仆 at Stark student works two jobs and goes to school, all the while caring for her 11-year-old daughter. On October 11th and 12th 抖M女仆 held a symposium titled, 鈥淒ocumenting Violence,鈥 which included discussions of violent crimes and mass murders in Guatemala, the former Yugoslavia, and the U.S., including the events of September 11, 2001.  Forensic science was the focus of the second evening, and the talks provided an excellent preview of material taught in KSU鈥檚 new Forensic Anthropology courses. Mountains are not as hard to climb when you have a generous boost to get to the summit. That is exactly what more than $108,000 in scholarship donations means to students at 抖M女仆 at Stark. Students with various backgrounds and experiences had the opportunity to share their stories and extend thanks to their benefactors at the annual scholarship dinner in late September. Featured Speaker RJ Mitte

RJ Mitte played Walt, Jr., the son of the cancer-stricken science teacher-turned-drug manufacturer, on the Emmy-winning AMC drama Breaking Bad. Mitte will be the second speaker of the 26th season of 抖M女仆 at Stark鈥檚 Featured Speakers Series on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m., at the Conference Center. 抖M女仆 at Stark will host a Campus Preview for high school juniors, seniors and their parents on Saturday, Nov. 5. Boo U Fall Festival on Thursday, Oct. 27

抖M女仆 at Stark will host its fall festival, a family-friendly, educational fall celebration for elementary school-aged children. The 抖M女仆 Biological Anthropology faculty, graduate students, and alumni enjoyed getting together and catching up on Saturday, September 24th. In addition to celebrating 3 decades of Ph.D. recipients that have 100% job placement, we also celebrated the creation of The Department of Anthropology Endowed Fund for Graduate Student Research in Biological Anthropology.
