  On August 1st, months of discussion culminated in the signing of a five-year Memorandum of Understanding between the Primate Research Institute (PRI) of Kyoto University, Japan, and the Anthropology Department and the School of Biomedical Sciences at 抖M女仆.  It was signed by Provost Todd Diacon and Dean James Blank representing KSU, and Dr. Takakazu Yumoto, the new director of the PRI. This June I was invited to the Primate Research Institute (PRI) of Kyoto University as a 鈥淒istinguished Visiting Senior Lecturer鈥 in the area of primate population genomics.  My host was Professor Hirohisa Hirai, a former director of the PRI and a leading researcher in the areas of primate molecular cytogenetics and chromosome evolution.  My time was split between (1) analysis and interpretation of nonhuman primate genetic patterns, and (2) expansion of research collaborations between the PRI and 抖M女仆.
